I’ve always believed that business isn’t just about profit - it’s about people and community too.
As business owners, we have a unique opportunity to use our skills, experience and networks to make a real difference. When businesses actively engage in giving back, we create stronger, more connected communities.
And that's not just good for the community - it's good for business too!
Through my work, I’ve set up and founded a number of community initiatives over the years and been fortunate to contribute to a wide variety of community projects too.
Whether it’s volunteering as a mentor to young people starting businesses, helping charities raise funds through creative events, hosting themed tea parties for pensioners to refurbishing orphanages in Bulgaria too, it's been an enriching experience that has benefited me tremendously.
But here's the thing...
'Giving back' isn’t just about helping others - it’s one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself.
Why? Because it lifts you up too.
It boosts your mental well-being, brings a sense of joy and makes life more meaningful.
Plus, few things feel better than knowing you’ve made a real difference.
The truth is, when you contribute to something bigger than yourself - whether it’s supporting a cause, mentoring someone, or strengthening your community - the greatest reward isn’t just the impact you make.
It’s the sense of fulfillment, purpose and connection you gain in return.
Giving isn’t just about generosity - it’s about growth, joy and creating a life that truly matters.
I'm now on a mission to encourage other business owners to do the same, to see the value in using their expertise and to support local causes, charities and community initiatives.
If you’re interested in collaborating on community projects, supporting a local initiative, or just exploring ways to give back, I’d love to hear from you.

Over the years I've supported many worthy initiatives and organisations and set up and founded some too!
A national charity founded by King Charles III (when he was A Prince!) to help vulnerable young people enjoy a better future. I volunteer for the charity as a Business Mentor helping young entrepreneurs set up and establish their own businesses.
Set up and founded this not-for-profit community initiative to support local people and businesses during COVID. The Harpenden Community App continues to be an important resource for local people having been downloaded by over 7,000 people.
Founded this unique annual community treasure hunt in 2024 to support Youth Talk - a counselling charity for young people. We raised over £8,000 and over 500 people took part and enjoyed a fabulous day exploring St Albans and helping raise funds for a great cause.
I've been a proud member and supporter of the Scout Movement for over 40 years. It's one of the best organisations out there for helping young people develop leadership skills, build self-confidence and learn skills for life.
A first for me in 2025 acting as a Business Mentor for this fabulous initiative! The project gives a group of students from a local school £100 and they are challenged to turn it into £1,000 for a local charity over a three month period.
A popular off-shoot when we had our family chocolate business. We organised and ran Black Tie Chocolate Balls (raising over £15k for charity) and organised Chocolate Afternoon Tea Parties for over 200 elderly people each year, supporting Age Concern.
